Gloria Victis explores landscapes marked by the memory of war and the struggle for freedom. Rather than depicting battles or historical events, Emilia turns to the places where history has left its traces — fields, forests, meadows, and avenues that have endured long after the conflict has passed. Inspired by Eliza Orzeszkowa’s Gloria victis, the series considers nature as a silent chronicler of human drama. Through expressive and atmospheric landscapes, the paintings reflect on memory, loss, and the persistence of nature — on what remains when history falls silent.
